Our History


Helping source mortgages since 2001

JML (Financial) Associates Ltd is an established Independent Mortgage and General Insurance Advisers firm based in Cobham, Surrey. The practice was set up in 2001 and is owned by Michelle Ford, a non-selling Director of the Company, and Daniel Ford who is an experienced and qualified adviser with years of industry experience.

We offer an ongoing service, contacting you up to six months prior to your preferential rate ending, meaning you will not just automatically go to the lenders ‘go to’ rate. (You will have to opt in to this service under new GDPR rules)

Michelle Ford
Michelle Ford Managing Director

Michelle has passed the Diploma in Financial Planning, Certificate in Advance Mortgage Advice and Certificate in Equity Release. She has been in the industry since 1989 and is a non selling partner in the business.

Daniel Ford
Daniel Ford MD & Independent Mortgage and General Insurance Adviser

Daniel has passed The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice and Certificate in Equity Release. He has been in the industry since 2004 and can advise on Mortgages, Equity Release mortgages, Life protection and General Insurance.

Kate Keeling
Kate Keeling Practice Manager & Independent Mortgage and General Insurance Adviser

Kate returned to work at JML in 2015. She has passed the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice. She can advise on Mortgages, Life protection and General Insurance.

Our fees


We do not charge for our consultation. No fees are payable until application.

For residential and Buy to Let mortagages

For residential mortgage advice you can choose how we are paid: pay a fee which is usually 0.5% of the loan amount and we will refund any commission paid to us by the lender, or we can accept commission from the lender and no fee will be charged, subject to a minimum of £500. For example, on a £100,000 mortgage our fee would be £500.  We also charge a £175 administration fee upon application which is non-refundable.

Portfolio Buy to Let mortgages

For Buy to Let mortgage advice you can choose how we are paid: pay a fee which is usually 0.65% of the loan amount and we will refund any commission paid to us by the lender, or we can accept commission from the lender and no fee will be charged, subject to a minimum of £650. For example, on a £100,000 mortgage our fee would be £650.  We also charge a £275 administration fee upon application which is non-refundable

For equity release mortgages

For residential mortgage advice you can choose how we are paid: pay a fee which is usually 2% of the loan amount and we will refund any commission paid to us by the lender, or we can accept commission from the lender and no fee will be charged, subject to a minimum of £1,000. For example, on a £100,000 mortgage our fee would be £2,000.  We also charge a £750 administration fee upon application which is non-refundable
